Machebeuf Football - Game 4

Bishop Machebeuf - 34
Holyoke - 14

Holyoke, Colorado is about 3 hours from Denver. Population 2,200. Coach Viera had the boys on their heels for this game. He prepped them all week about how the entire town of Holyoke lives for their Friday night lights, and he wasn't kidding. On the way into town every house and business had a Holyoke Dragon flag outside. It seemed like in fact, the entire town had shown up.

Bishop Machebeuf showed up too, and drove the three hour drive back home with the win.

Let's go Buffs!!

Benedictine University

It's such a simple thing to say, but where has the time gone??

Last weekend Maxwell went on his first official college visit. Benedictine has most of what Maxwell's looking for in a school -- small size, near a big city with strong health sciences programs. Oh, and then there's lacrosse. He was given the tour by the head and assistant lacrosse coaches. And he stayed overnight in the dorms with the lacrosse players. And he was given a verbal offer to play lacrosse there. And he was in heaven. We'll see where he ends up, but Benedictine was a really, really strong start.

College visits. This is just crazy.

And when 30 minutes outside of Chicago, why not go do Chicago??!

Happy Birthday, Air Force

Happy 69th birthday to the United States Air Force!

Friday night was the Air Force Ball and the distinguished guest speaker was Lt Col James H. Harvey III. He was a Tuskegee Airmen and a member of 332nd Fighter Group that won the first ever USAF Top Gun weapons meet in 1949. It took 46 years for the 332nd to be recognized as the winner though simply because they were African American.

The True and Untold Story of the First Top Gun Winner

We had a great night and met some pretty great folks. Cheers to the USAF!

Mile High Camping

Matt and the boys went camping over the Labor Day Weekend to Estes Park. With overnight lows in the 30's, Viv and I were more than happy to stay home and sleep in our nice, warm beds.

The Best Gift Getter

Every single birthday and every single Christmas I say the exact same thing...Vivian is THE BEST gift getter ever! She opens a gift and I swear, even if it's a bag of dirt, she acts like she just received a bag of gold plated gold wrapped in gold. She is always so thankful and so excited. Watching her unwrap is just so fantastic...

Her brothers make her smile like nobody else can....
...and then do things like this...

SURPRISE!!
She loved, loved, loved it! No surprise there

Base Living

Living on base has definitely taken some getting used to. Some things are great and some things make me crazy. For the most part though, the great outweighs the crazy. Here's to a couple of the greats...
A Buckley AFB sunset.
I caught a glimpse of this just walking by the
front window and it literally made me catch my breath.
So beautiful.
As the kids say, "here's the sound of freedom"

Indian Hot Springs

Could be Mexico or could be Indian Hot Springs
Mexico will have to wait.
It's Indian Hot Springs for now.
