You, my little love, turned 10 years old today -- double digits! You make every day brighter than the one before. You smile from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep. You are compassionate beyond your years. You are sweet and funny and genuine and if I were 10 years old, I'd want to be your best friend.
Happy 10th birthday, sweet girl. I love you and I look forward to each and every day I have with you!
Love,
Mom

Machebeuf Football - Game 1
Bishop Machebeuf - 48
Pinnacle - 0
Not a bad way to start the season! Maxwell's playing iron man again -- linebacker, tight end and special teams. Defense is definitely his strong suit, but who knows, that elusive varsity touchdown might come this season. Stay tuned! In the meantime...
Let's go Buffs!!

(Last) First Day of School 2017
A senior, a freshman and a fourth grader all walk into a bar....
Kidding...it was just the first day of school.
Yesterday was the last, first day of school picture that I would've gotten of Maxwell, Henry and Vivian together, but it didn't happen. Maxwell left the house at 5:30 in the morning so that he could meet the rest of the senior class for Senior Sunrise. They watched the sunrise together on the first day of school, and they'll watch the sunset together on the last day. I love the idea, but it meant that I didn't get my last picture. It's was probably for the best though -- I actually held it together nicely. My senior drove away and my freshman walked away and watching them both made me cry a bit, but my fourth grade girl made me smile ear to ear!

The Short Story - Month 4
Henry's been on HGH injections for four months now and in that time has grown an inch and a half! I know that may not sound like a lot for most teenagers, but for a kid who hadn't grown significantly in almost two years it. is. huge. His feet have also finally grown -- he's almost out of youth sizes now! Again, probably not a big deal to most but to us it is the world. This kid has owned his diagnosis and the treatment from day 1 and now he's really seeing the results -- we couldn't be happier to have started down this road with him!
1.5 inches in four months
All of that and tomorrow he officially becomes...

Texas Finale
This was the big finale we (meaning Maxwell) was looking forward to all summer. For years he and his Grandpa talked about the day that he'd get "the truck". On our last day in San Antonio, Maxwell drove away with it and has been on cloud 9 ever since. Thanks, Dad. You made your first born grandson a very happy (and hard working!) young man!
These two have a special bond. I can't quite describe it, but it's special
And there he goes...a boy and his truck...

Texas Tubing
Floatin' the Guadalupe. Right as we put in Maxwell turned to me and said, "Mom, this is what we talk about all year long!". It's true. Every time it's too cold outside (hello, Colorado) or a good old, summertime country song comes on the radio, Maxwell and I talk about tubing down a Texas river. Any Texas river. This day didn't disappoint...we'll be talking about this day for a while...
Always good advice no matter which way you read it

If you asked me to describe my perfect Texas day, I think this might be it...
