Sunday Jeepin'

Matt and I have been trying to be more purposeful about getting away by ourselves every now and then. Sunday afternoons are the perfect time to get in the Jeep and take in the mountains and enjoy each others company. Just the two of us.

A Weekend in Pictures

Hiking, football, lacrosse and pedicures could only have meant one thing...Uncle Marcus and Aunt Kathy were in town...
Bear Lake
Rocky Mountain National Park

It was another big win for the Buffs on Friday night...
...and a Buffs lax win the next day...
...and then there was this...
Those smiles say it all...

Goalie Girl

On Sunday, Viv quickly went from this...
To this...

I tried talking her out of playing goalie. I told her that I'm just not strong enough to be a goalie mom. But nope, goalie she wants to play. It makes sense actually. She's been around boys lacrosse for so long now that that's really what she knows, and the goalie position is the only position in girls lacrosse that's the exact same in boys lacrosse. She knew instinctively how to hold the stick and how to stand and how to move around the net. I hate to admit it, but she might just be a little goalie girl.

This one snuck by her!

She loves using a regular stick with a pocket instead of that crazy girls stick!

"CLEAR!"

This cracked me up.
She's punching her pocket...something she sees the boys do all the time

So there you have it.
We've got a middie, an attack and now a goalie.
The lacrosse trifecta.

The Hanson Brothers

On Saturday my heart almost burst with pride. It was the day I had been looking forward to for so, so long. Henry and Maxwell were on the lacrosse field together; same team, same common goal. Maxwell as middie and Henry as attack. Feeding each other assists and scoring goals. High fiving and laughing and smacking each other on the butt. A couple of times they didn't need to make a call; they just caught each others eye and knew where to go and what to do.

Maxwell had 3 goals and 2 assist and Henry had 1 goal and 1 assist. The each had an assist for a goal to the other. When Maxwell assisted Henry for his goal the whole team went a little nuts. I may have too. Just maybe. After the game Maxwell told Henry how proud he was of him. How Henry's really playing up to the competition and how much more confident he seems. I'm sure neither one of them knew it, but they both were beaming with pride.

The Hanson brothers. One of my best creations.
Henry's goal assisted by Maxwell...
I love their teammate's big smile in the background

Here's a good example of the size difference between Henry and his competition...

He's figuring out how to play big though...

These two.
Friends come and go but brothers are forever.
