Faith Christian - 17
It took 17 years for Bishop Machebeuf football to earn a spot in the playoffs. On Saturday, they played that playoff game and how I wish the score reflected the hard fought battle. The score was 0-0 at the end of the third quarter and our boys were just out of steam. They never gave up, but in the fourth quarter our 21 suited-up players didn't have anything left to give against the opposing 45.
Maxwell was amazing as always. Not only in his play, but in his leadership and brotherly love -- to the other 20 brothers he has on that team. When he came home he was sad and defeated as it sunk in that he wouldn't ever put on football pads again.
His high school football career is over now. In every field he's ever played on, Maxwell's left his blood, sweat and tears. But on Saturday. On Saturday, he left a little piece of his heart on that field.

Tough loss on a day where we just didn't click on all phases, but we played the game of our lives! The score was 0-0 for 35:55 minutes of a 48 minute game, as the Eagles scored 1st on the last play of the 3rd qtr. The "War of Attrition" finally took is toll on this miraculous season & our 2017 season skids to a halt.
Its always tough to lose & the only time that you don't feel this bad at the end, is when you win it all.. But to measure this season by the win/loss column is shallow with respect to what we overcame & accomplished this year. This season goes down as possibly the most memorable that I have ever coached & I have witnessed some pretty special moments over the years since 1987. This magical band of brothers showed what can happen when true buy-in occurs & a group opens their hearts to coaching, discipline, tough love, and the positive stress of true brotherhood.
I've never been more proud than I am of this team including the players, coaches and families, as it just took more out of all to make this happen with so few... Individually, we may not have been the most talented, but together we became a battalion of Great Men. Great Men who Step Up, Stand in Front, Never Give up, and Care for Others!
Last year our seniors opened the door to a path of "what could be". This year our seniors - Remi, Max, Fernando, Joe, Danny, Evan, Julio, Jack, & Mickey -you've raised the bar to higher ground! You guys stand for everything that is right in this crazy world & I have great faith that you all will leave our world in a better place than you found it. I love you like son's & that too, is forever.
This pic below says it all; Marques & Emmet - My son, Fernando's brother, Love, Pain, Our Future... Buffalo Warrior Spirit Lives On!!!
It is with great pride that I take my hat off to the Mom that wrote this story.
