The Short Story - ONE YEAR

One year down, two to go! For the last 365 days Henry has given himself an HGH injection every night. That's a lot to ask from a teenage boy but he's completely owned it, and the results are pretty awesome. Just shy of 4 inches in a year!

I'm so proud of this young man and I can't wait to see what the next year brings...

Bishop Machebeuf - 18
Englewood - 11
Stats: Henry had one goal and Maxwell had three goals and 4 assists

We got a win! Henry played quite a bit in this game and he did great. He did take a really hard hit to the back in the 3rd quarter though and he went down. As everyone on the field took a knee, Maxwell sprinted over to his little brother; no matter what, his protective nature never turns off. Henry was out for a while but was ok. I'll never get tired of seeing them on the field together!

Goal!!

My favorite part of this pic is how excited #12 is for Hen!

Went straight to his brother...

I wish I knew what they what talking about...

Destination Imagination - STATE

The St. James Mindworkers came in 15th out of 25 schools competing in the Destination Imagination State Competition. Watching the vision and creativity of these kids come to life was amazing!
Viv had to make some last minute changes to the structure
and in the end it held the max amount of weight!

Day 1

Day 1 is probably the hardest day, right? No matter what you're doing, day 1 isn't easy. I've needed a reset and a recharge for a while now, but excuses have been too easy to come by.

No more.

Life is crazy right now. I've got written lists of what needs to be done and lists in my head. But in the midst of the crazy, I've decided that I need to focus on getting myself healthy again, both mentally and physically. The idea of sending Maxwell off to college has had me in a tail-spin for a while now. It's not easy for me to talk about or write about but it weighs heavy on my head and my heart each and every day. A big part of the reason I got a part time job was to have a distraction from the weight of what's to come. Watching my first born walk away from me sometimes seems like more than I can handle. As he walks away, I'll move Henry and Vivian to yet another house to plant roots for yet another home. Those two and the transition for them has made for many sleepless nights lately. I've felt weak under the weight of this move and of the need to keep Henry and Viv happy and engaged.

No more though.

I'm ready today, Day 1, to get stronger mentally and physically. I'm ready to take on the challenge of life changes and focus on the excitement of what's to come. I'm ready to stand tall in the face of all the Day 1's that are right around the corner. I need to know (again) what it feels like to be strong and capable of the unknown and of things that I fear. Today, I'm ready.

So, here's to Day 1.

Brace-less

That's it! Henry's finally out of braces!

After a first set when he was 8 years old, three extractions when we first got here followed by another set of braces, he is done!! This kid is changing by the day!

Spartans Lax- Game 1

Spartans - 11
Cheyenne Mountain - 1

So, this is the real deal! Vivian is playing lacrosse and it's not Little Scoopers anymore! She had decided in the fall that she really wanted to play goalie this year. First practice this season, she told her coach and he was thrilled! It's normally really hard to convince anyone to play goalie, but Viv and another girl both volunteered. Perfect - they could switch off week to week! And then yesterday came around. First game of the season and Viv changed her mind on the way to the game. She didn't want to do it - she definitely didn't want to goalie.

Too late.

Before she could say boo Coach had her suited up and in the net, and I'm so glad that he didn't give her anytime to talk herself out of it. She did great!! She had five solid saves, great clears and even said after the game that she was really proud of herself. I couldn't agree more!

Let's go Spartans!!

SAVE!

 CLEAR!

You can see the yellow ball mid air...
SAVE!!

Game over! Go find your goalie!
